Let’s be honest, the first thing that comes to your mind after you book your engagement session is “what do I wear??” Instead of letting your mind race over and over again about what the heck to wear take a breath and keep reading.

I have two simple rules that will help you nail your engagement photos outfit!

Rule #1: Only one person needs to be wearing a pattern

I always tell my clients that only one person needs to wear a pattern because otherwise you are going to overwhelm the shot and take away from the moment. If the girl wants to wear a patterned wrap dress then the guy needs to wear a neutral colored shirt and pants. If you are going for a more casual look where you wear jeans, only one person needs to wear a patterned top. As a photographer, we want your pictures to have a clean, classic look that you can have in your homes for years to come.

Rule #2: You need to feel comfortable If you are a jeans + t-shirt kind of gal, wear that.

If you feel most comfortable twirling around in a summer wrap dress, wear that. If you never wear heels and love to rock a pair of vans, WEAR THEM! I always tell my clients that I am just simply capturing them just being themselves and you can’t be yourself if you aren’t comfortable. If you want to try out a different type of look I recommend you leaving time to have two outfits in your shoot. In the end, we want to capture the best moments where you feel swept in the moment with the love of your life. Trust me, being comfortable makes a huge difference!

Here are a few casual options that will still make you stand out:
